Humboldt-Del Norte Dental Society

Continuing Education Videoapes Available to Members

by: George Epperson, DDS, Librarian

You can check out any of the tapes for use by yourself or your staff. Some of the tapes are great for training staff in extended function duties. Other tapes are more dentist oriented but are helpful for staff to understand concepts and/or gain an appreciation of what we do.

In addition to the video tapes, the society has a manikin that is great for teaching x-ray technique to new or existing staff. It is probably the same type of manikin that you learned on in dental school with as real skull surrounded by rubber cheeks and tongue. It connects to the dental chair.

The list of video tapes are:
Gordon Christensen Series:

  • V19 Bleaching Vital teeth
  • V7 Direct Resin Veneers
  • V6 Porcelain Veneers
  • V37 Tooth Colored Inlays and Onlays
  • V22 Implants--Surgical Considerations
  • V23 Implants--Prosthodontic Considerations
  • V27 Occlusal Splints
  • V29 Tooth Desensitization
  • V35 Bleaching teeth Using Home Care Methods
  • V4750 Achieving Optimum Acceptance of Treatment Plans
  • V24 Preventive Restorative Dentistry
  • V18 Simple Temporary Restorations for Fixed Pros
  • V1957 Dental Cements--Selecting the best type
  • V1974 Multiple Unit Fixed Pros.

Other tapes that may be of interest:

  • Universal Precautions -- From Medcom
  • ADA "Accurate Reporting"
  • ADA "PANDA" information
  • ADA Careers in Dentistry
  • ADA "PSR" Program
  • Micro Labs IPS Empress Doctor information
  • Micro Labs Snoar Open Airway Appliance
  • Glidewell Labs Biotemps

Also available: CDA Mouth Guard Program Oral/Facial Protection Slide Presentation.
Librarian's note: This is an excellent ready to go > >slide presentation if you want to give a talk to a group about mouth guards. It has a script that explains each of the 30 slides. The program takes about 15 minutes--longer if you expand on the slides or get into any sort of Q&A session with the audience.

DONATE YOUR USED VIDEOS: The Society would greatly appreciate any donation of videos that you might have purchased and viewed and are now just sitting around. Any current tapes on clinical dentistry or practice management would be great. As you know, there are a lot of great videos out there available for dentists that are too numerous (and costly) for us to buy them all. (Of course you can check out the video if you need to view it again.)

Check out terms: There are no CE credits available for any of the videos any more. The check out time is 2 weeks. Please don't forget to return them and make me chase you down to get them back. If you live far away, we can use the mail to get the videos two and fro.
